Wicklow's first ever five-star hotel opened in April 2002, when the multi-million euro 145 bedroom Druids Glen Resort opened its doors as a Marriott Hotel.

This followed Druids Glen Golf Course which opened in the autumn of 1995 and hosted the Murphy's Irish Open four times, from 1996 to 1999, with Druids Heath golf course opening in 2003.

Over the years there has been a huge investment in the resort including the first ever alteration to the original footprint of the hotel in 2018, extending the former area of the existing bar and pavilion overlooking Druids Glen Golf Course.

The resort has gone from strength to strength over the years with the Neville Hotel Group purchasing the 5 Star Druids Glen & Golf Resort in July 2019 and continuing to invest significantly, with Druids Glen Golf Course currently undergoing a 12-month multimillion-euro restoration project.
