History
The grounds of Druids Glen Golf Course are steeped in a history that unfolds across four centuries. Originally part of the Woodstock Estate, this area was included in the vast landholdings of Sir Thomas Wentworth in the early 1600s. Over the centuries, the land passed through many hands, witnessing change and renewal, yet one thing has always remained constant: the timeless beauty of its setting.
With rolling landscapes, sweeping views, and a natural presence that seems almost mystical, County Wicklow has long been known as the “Garden of Ireland.”
Where It All Started
In 1990, a group of Irish entrepreneurs recognised the potential of this remarkable landscape. They commissioned renowned golf course designers Pat Ruddy and Tom Craddock to craft a world-class course that would celebrate both the natural contours of the land and Ireland’s rich golfing tradition. Their creation, Druids Glen, opened a new chapter in the estate’s story, one defined by excellence, and the enduring harmony between nature and design.
30 Years of Greatness
Tom Craddock and Pat Ruddy went on to design a course often referred to as “the Augusta of Europe.” Druids Glen is a magnificent 18-hole parkland championship course, par 71, stretching 6,202 yards through the stunning Wicklow countryside. With tree-lined fairways, historic landmarks, sparkling water features, and vibrant floral displays, it offers both beauty and challenge in equal measure.
Every hole carries its own distinct character, demanding precision and rewarding creativity. From its breathtaking scenery to the iconic 17th island green, Druids Glen remains a modern classic.
Since its opening in 1995, Druids Glen Golf Course has captivated golfers from around the world—and thirty years on, in 2025, it continues to do so with unmatched allure.
A New Chapter
In June 2019, the Neville Hotel Group ushered Druids Glen Hotel & Golf Resort into a bold new chapter, taking the reins of one of Ireland’s most storied estates. With a vision rooted in excellence and respect for tradition, the group set out to reimagine this iconic Wicklow retreat, where centuries of history meet the spirit of modern luxury.
Under Neville’s stewardship, Druids Glen has been meticulously revitalized, from the restoration of its legendary fairways to the refinement of its five-star hospitality.
Today, the Golf Course stands renewed, a masterpiece of heritage, elegance, and sporting prestige, once again claiming its place among Ireland’s most celebrated destinations.
