Sustainability at Druids Glen Hotel & Golf Resort
At Druids Glen Hotel & Golf Resort, we understand that safeguarding the natural environment is essential for the generations to come and for the continued success of the tourism sector. We are dedicated to playing our part in this effort and actively encourage our guests, suppliers, and wider partners to adopt responsible practices that help preserve and protect the surroundings we all enjoy.
Our 7 Focus Areas
Our Green Team
Our dedicated Green Team meets regularly to ensure the resort remains aligned with its sustainability goals. Through careful planning and seasonal initiatives, we continuously look for new ways to improve our environmental performance.
Protecting Biodiversity
Set across 360 acres of woodland, gardens, and open landscape, Druids Glen provides an ideal habitat for wildlife, flora, and fauna to thrive. We actively preserve and enhance biodiversity by maintaining thousands of trees, natural habitats, and green spaces throughout the resort.
Our Bee Apiary
One of our proudest sustainability initiatives is our on-site bee apiary. The apiary supports local bee populations, which play a vital role in pollination and the health of our ecosystem. Our bees also produce delicious local honey, harvested right here on the grounds.
Minimising Waste
We are committed to reducing waste across the resort. Our on-site biodigester transforms food waste into nutrient-rich compost used on our gardens and greens, reducing the need for chemical fertilisers and lowering greenhouse gas emissions. We have also replaced single-use plastic water bottles in guest rooms with eco-friendly paper alternatives.
Refillable Amenities
In our guest rooms, toiletries are provided in refillable bottles from Olivia Thinks, a sustainable and vegan brand. Made with up to 97% natural ingredients and packaged in eco-conscious materials, these products reflect our commitment to luxury with care.
Community Projects
Sustainability extends beyond our grounds. Our team regularly takes part in local environmental initiatives, including beach clean-ups in Kilcoole, Co. Wicklow. We are also proud to work with The Happy Pear, promoting local and sustainable food practices while offering guests fresh, eco-conscious dining options.
Green Transport
We encourage greener travel through our Bike to Work scheme, staff taxi service, shuttle services to local towns, hybrid courtesy cars, and electric vehicle charging points for guests and staff.
A Greener Future
Our commitment to sustainability guides our daily operations and future plans. From protecting biodiversity to reducing waste and supporting the local community, we are proud to continue building a greener future at Druids Glen.
